Disability Justice is Reproductive Justice

The courts may try to control our bodies, but women, non-binary, trans, and disabled people are not objects to be contained or manipulated. We are human beings that deserve care and choices, and we will not allow our autonomy to be denied. – Sins Invalid

Plain Language Birth Support Cards

Designed for disabled and neurodivergent people, these plain-language Birth Support Access Cards help you (or a person on your support team) clearly communicate your needs to your care providers during labor. These cards are simple, practical, and ready to print (the size of an index card).

Three vertical, smartphone-shaped posters side by side against a light blue background. Each poster has a different pastel color and a bold heading at the top, followed by short example phrases. Small icons accompany the text on each one. Left poster (light gray background): Title: “When You Need to Ask for Something” Below the title are three example statements: “I need the lights dimmed for my sensory comfort.” (with a lightbulb icon) “Please explain that in plain language.” (with a speaking face icon) “I need to see the interpreter before making a decision.” (with a purple hands icon); Middle poster (light green background): Title: “When You Want to Say No” A red “no” symbol appears under the title. The example statements read: “I do not consent to this procedure.” “Stop. I need more information before continuing.” “I’m asking to pause right now so I can understand my options.”; Right poster (lavender background): Title: “When You Need Support” There is a handshake icon near the top.
